:  any of the cells of cuboidal epithelium that make up the cytotrophoblast

Biographical Note for LANGHANS CELL

Langhans, Theodor (1839–1915), German pathologist and anatomist. Langhans described the cytotrophoblast and the cells that form it in 1870. He is also remembered for his descriptions of the giant cells found in tuberculosis tubercles (1867) and of the giant cells found in the lesions of Hodgkin's disease (1872).
